As part of the services we offer, we are required to process personal data about our staff, our service users and, in some instances, the friends or relatives of our service users and staff. “Processing” can mean collecting, recording, organising, storing, sharing or destroying data.

What data do we have?
When you apply for a role with The Ingleborough Nursing Home, we collect personal data about you. This may include:
• Your name, address and contact details;
• Your employment history, qualifications and training records;
• Information contained in your application form or CV;
• References from previous employers;
• Interview notes and assessments.
Depending on the role, you may be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We do not keep copies of DBS certificates. We record that the appropriate check has been completed.
We may also collect limited special category data where necessary, for example health information in order to consider reasonable adjustments, or equal opportunities information where you choose to provide it.
Why do we have this data?
We process your personal data in order to assess your suitability for employment, to take steps prior to entering into a contract and to comply with our legal obligations, including safeguarding requirements.
Our lawful bases for processing are:
• Taking steps at your request prior to entering into a contract;
• Compliance with a legal obligation;
• Our legitimate interests in recruiting suitable staff to provide safe care services.
Where we process special category data, this is because it is necessary for employment law obligations or because you have provided your consent.
If you are successful, the information provided during the recruitment process will form part of your staff record and will be processed in accordance with the Staff section of this Privacy Notice.
If you are unsuccessful, your information will be retained securely for a limited period in line with our Records Keeping Policy and the Records Management Code of Practice and will then be securely disposed of.
